Winchester Cathedral
Winchester Cathedral....the perfect setting for a picturesque Christmas market and ice skating rink.....I think the sign says it all "England's Christmas Capital"!
We spent the day shopping the market stalls, watching the children ice skate with the support of the skating penguins - how cute is that? - an entertaining guided tour of the cathedral, and of course, the perfect holiday Pub lunch.
Winchester Cathedral in Hampshire is one of the largest cathedrals in England with the longest nave and overall length of any Gothic Cathedral in Europe. History can be traced back to the original site in the year 642. Since then the rebuilt and renovated Cathedral has hosted the Funeral of William II, the coronation of Richard I, the marriage of Queen Mary I, and the funeral and burial of Jane Austen. The architecture is majestic and worth the trip any time of the year!

Wait....did I mention the SUN WAS SHINING!
Sunny skies, Christmas market, good friends, and some history thrown in make for a perfect day! Just got back to London today--we're off to Waddesdon tomorrow, and maybe we'll try to replicate that formula for a perfect day!
