Who will help me eat the pie?

What's not to love about my new French Kitchen Island with a beautiful marble top. It is exactly what I needed in my narrow kitchen and yet still feels open and doesn't block the view of the river. I love having the extra counter space and will fill up the bottom shelf in no time! While hubby and the kids watched football I christened the new island by baking an apple pie.... hmmm hmmm delish! Since it's post wedding, I think I'll have a slice!
Tucker doesn't seem to mind sharing his space at all!

Happiness!

Pictures have been floating around on facebook from the minute Christy and Doug said "I do"! So I have borrowed a few photos for my blogging peeps. The wedding weekend was perfect and we could not have asked for a more beautiful day on the Cape. I'm still tingling from pure joy and I'll bet Christy is still smiling on the sunny beach in Aruba. Enjoy a few of my favorites and as soon as the photographer gets the "official" website up, I'll let you know!
More to come!

A Movie Tour!

Everyone recognizes the Lone Cypress at Pebble Beach.... we were able to experience it as part of our Monterey Movie Tour. Only Mary could find this unique bus tour that provided a drive along the beautiful California coastline including the 17 Mile Drive, Pebble Beach Golf Course, and Carmel ~ AND featured blockbuster scenes from movies filmed across the Monterey Peninsula. It was perfect! Such a fun way to spend the day!
After the tour, our guide gave us directions to the historic Mission Ranch Resort, lovingly restored by the former Mayor of Carmel, Clint Eastwood. Eager to catch a glimpse of someone famous we enjoyed cocktails on the outdoor patio overlooking sheep grazing in the meadow and a wonderful dinner watching the sun set over the Carmel River and Pacific Ocean. We had "coffee" and hung out in the piano bar. In this setting it was easy to imagine that some of the characters we watched may have been famous movie stars in their day...who knows?
Is that someone famous? How does she know soooooo much about movies and the stars? I wonder???

Napa....Need I say more?

Wine is what it's all about! We shared a fantastic weekend with the Almasseys touring many of the "boys" favorite wineries, tasting some of the best Reserve wines in some of the most incredible settings. We were drawn to the William Hill Winery because we have selected the Cabernet Sauvignon as the red wine for the wedding (coming up in 2 weeks!) The setting could not have been more relaxing as we sat on a hillside under the shade of umbrellas in comfy Adirondack chairs sipping a perfectly chilled glass of wine.
One of the highlights of our weekend was the Castelle di Amorosa..an exact reproduction of a Tuscan Castle, including chapel and dungeon, built into a hillside in Napa. We took a horse and carriage ride through the grounds and ended up in a huge vaulted, heavy beamed, grand room for our tasting.
This picture is not great of us but it cracks me up....I think Mary and I were on overload with the wisdom of wine tasting! Time to head back to San Francisco!
